end of story
Well, fellow movie viewers, the time has come to say goodbye. In looking at the next six months, I realized that something's gotta give (hey - that's catchy!). I drew straws and sadly, work/the real world won over blogging on Let's See.
BUT - to send you off in style, here's one last quiz. Can you guess these movies from their last lines? (I know 20 is a lot, but it's only fitting we go out with a bang!) I'll post answers in the comments later this week.
1. "And so, ladies and gentlemen, you, too, like this satisfied customer, can solve all your problems by subscribing to an answering service."
2. "It's a far, far better thing I do than I have ever done. It's a far, far better rest I go to than I have ever known."
3. "Emily, I have a little confession to make. I really am a horse doctor. But marry me, and I'll never look at any other horse."
4. "May I obey all your commands with equal pleasure, Sire!"
5. "And oh, Auntie Em, there's no place like home."
6. "Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."
7. "I’m not a cabdriver. I’m a coffeepot."
8. "Hey, Stella! Hey, Stella!"
9. "No patty fingers, if you please. The proprieties at all times. Hold on to your hats."
10. "I now pronounce you men and wives."
11. "The real king is on the throne, Jean is my very own, and life couldn't possibly, not even probably, life couldn't possibly better be!"
12. "Well, nobody's perfect."
13. "But before we start that, may I have the stamps?"
14. "Where the devil are my slippers?"
15. "Good. For a moment there, I thought we were in trouble."
16. "It's not like that at all. He's my brother."
17. "As you wish."
18. "Fellas, last year I made three million dollars. But your fifty thousand was the most fun. Are you ready? Then, let's go get 'em."
19. "Do I still have to sleep in the cupboard?"
20. "I sometimes catch myself looking up at the moon, remembering the changes of fortune in our long voyage, thinking of the thousands of people who worked to bring the three of us home. I look up at the moon, and wonder: When will we be going back? And who will that be?"
Bonus: "End of story."

quotes: doris day
Name the movie:
1. Greetings, chum!
My, we haven't seen you, let's see now, since you didn't go to Switzerland.
Yeah, I got a big kick out of planning that trip. What looks good this time of year?
How about the Canadian Rockies?
Canadian Rockies? Don't you remember? I already haven't been there!
2. Now I need to put the meat on broil but your hair is on bake. Which should I do first?
I think the *hair*, Molly.
False hair, false eyelashes, false bosoms. In my day women were flesh and blood, now they're 70% nylon and 30% foam rubber.
3. I haven't felt like this since Culver Military Academy.
4. A kiss? What does that prove? It's like finding out you can light a stove. It doesn't make you a cook.
5. The next man that laughs is gonna get his head ventilated.
6. The State Department could use her. What a party girl she'd make - in Moscow!

quotes: cary grant movies
Name the Cary Grant movie:
1. Do you shave or shower first?
2. I have an infuriating lack of talent for doing simple things.
You probably don't do them right, that's why.
3. I bluffed the Old Man out of the last pot. With a pair of deuces.
What's so depressing about that?
Well, I mean, if I can do it, what are the Russians doing to him?
4. Oh no! Not my zappatos.
5. I don't like the way Teddy Roosevelt is looking at me.
6. It's not a nice thing to do. People wouldn't understand. He wouldn't understand. What I mean is... Well... This is developing into a very bad habit!
7. Ready boot, let's scoot!

quotes: audrey hepburn movies
Name the Audrey Hepburn movie:
1. I've been trying to write her a poem, but I can't seem to finish it. What rhymes with "glass"?
2. Duval, please! I can't hear myself think, and I'm trying to think in French!
3. Please, monsieur, is the news good or bad?
That depends. Is this your wife?
It looks like her.
Then I regret to inform you that it looks bad.
Then there IS another man!
There is. And I regret to say that he looks good.
4. Do they still really have prizes in Cracker Jack boxes?
Oh yes.
That's nice to know... It gives one a feeling of solidarity, almost of continuity with the past, that sort of thing.
5. All right, get set for the story of my life.
Fiction or non-fiction?
6. Okay, you're the boss. Just do as I tell you.
7. Is this the elevator?
This is my ROOM!

guess who.
She grew up with the nickname Carly Jane by her family and close friends.
She is one of six actresses who have danced with both Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly.
She was discovered by Gene Kelly.
She has said, "Even now I feel furious with myself because whenever there's a camera pointed towards me my MGM training makes me smile. I don't like it. You can see it on all the people who came from that era because there was no question of them not smiling for the camera. Even Katharine Hepburn -- and God knows she was a dramatic actress -- if the camera is on her she smiles."
She and her daughter co-starred on an episode of "The Love Boat", in the parts of mother and daughter, both con artists, engaged in fleecing millionaires.

guess who.
He was born Joseph Levitch.
He is known as a clothes horse. He donates his suits rather than having them cleaned and his socks after wearing once.
He was presented the French Legion of Honor in 1984 and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1977.
In Italy he has been given the nickname 'Picchiatello' (which means something like "nut" or "crazy").
In 1969, he announced an ambitious project of franchising a chain of (his name here) Cinemas. A firm believer in family entertainment, he said that the one inviolate rule of the chain would be that nothing other than family-oriented films would be shown. The project ran into trouble (including changing tastes in entertainment) and was never realized.
He always wore tiny lady's sized wristwatches, usually made by Cartier. They are easy to spot in all of his films.
Sammy Davis Jr. called him the "greatest white faker" when referring to him as a dancer.
