trilogy: the bourne movies

Another of my favorite trilogies is the Bourne movies.

The Bourne Identity (2002)

On a stormy night, a young man is pulled out of the sea by the crew of a fishing boat. He has two bullets in his back and a miniature laser device in his hip, which contains a Swiss bank account number. After recovering, and traveling to bank in Zurich, the young man finds a stack of passports, all with his picture, and a huge pile of cash. Armed with the contents of his bank box, and with his new friend Marie by his side, he scours Paris for clues about his identity and past life... and finds himself in the middle of two assassination plots masterminded by the CIA.

The Bourne Supremacy (2004)

Jason Bourne and his girlfriend Marie begin a new life, living under assumed names. But when an assassination attempt on Bourne goes horribly wrong, he must re-enter the life he wanted to leave behind, in order to find out why he's still being chased.

The Bourne Ultimatum (2007)

Bourne is once again brought out of hiding, this time inadvertently by London-based reporter Simon Ross who is trying to unveil Operation Blackbriar--an upgrade to Project Treadstone--in a series of newspaper columns. Information from the reporter stirs a new set of memories, and Bourne must finally, ultimately, uncover his dark past whilst dodging the CIA's best efforts in trying to eradicate him.

I like to watch these fast-forwarding thru some of the jumpy "authentic" camera tracking. One of my favorite lines from #1:

"...so I thought 'why not just ask him'?" "You just asked him???""He made me a copy..."

"He jumped out of the window. Why would someone do that?" The only thing I wish the 2nd and 3rd didn't have is the shaky camera thing and the up in the air relationship with Nikki. That still bugs me.

there is so much i love about these movies--but i think my favorite part is the complete non-reality of a lot of it. :) (i also rather like the fact that they killed off the girl--but that's another story)

Non-reality? You mean when you hack off your hair in a hotel sink it doesn't end up looking like that???
